November 2 Minutes

COMPUTER CLUB MEETING

November 2, 2007

Seventeen members and guests attended.

Ardell Easterday, President opened the meeting. New Officers introduced themselves, Gary Puro, Vice President and Program Chairman, Ann Iverson, Treasurer, Dolores Dewey, Acting Secretary.

Treasurer Ann Iverson reported the purchase, this past summer, of a new desk and a used monitor for the club computer made available for public use. Leaving a balance of $2053.59. Acting Secretary Dolores Dewey read the minutes from March 23, 2007, the final meeting of the 2006/2007 season.

President Easterday announced that meetings would start at 9:00 am and end by 10:00 am on Fridays. Members sign in log has been discontinued. Dues remain at $5.00/yr. At the time of payment, please give your name and space number. Your email address, if you wish it published, is optional.

Under old business, should we continue to provide Friday night movies? It was decided to postpone this decision until after the Holidays. A discussion ensued as to the necessity of having a Computer Club Dinner in light of the size of the Club’s bank account. Member Jean LaVoie Moved to cancel the Computer Club Dinner for the ’07/’08 season, Phyllis Randall Seconded the Motion. No vote was taken. Vice President Gary Puro Moved to “Postpone the Motion to a future date”. After some reflection members concurred.

President Ardell Easterday introduced the subject of the new computer that the Club had voted for last Spring. This computer would be for the exclusive use of Club members and would be password protected. Earl Reddick volunteered to accompany Treasurer Ann Iverson and Vice President Gary Puro and aid in choosing an appropriate computer.

Discussions - Members have experienced problems with Nomad, the wifi provider. Answer, call their Customer Service. The new Vista OS comes with very good photo programs. Walgreens photo department (at the corner of Broadway and Jessica) will refill your empty ink cartridges.
